Niches, furniture, sunshades, corridors and ceilings. While at McGranahan Architects – assisted with Design Development through Permit Documents of the Arts & Allied Health project at Clover Park Technical College with Marc Gleason, AIA as the Principal-in-Charge. My role included ceiling coordination and sunshade design and detailing in addition to working with the interiors department to conceptualize, design and detail the furniture and lighting at the niches.

Nearing sunset you can see how the deep sunshades affect the light penetration in late October. At the right of the photograph at the second floor is a peak-a-boo view of the green roof / deck and sunshade.

A closer look at the sunshade provided at the second floor green roof. The garden is not quite complete at this point.

One of the corridor niches showing the lighting and furniture. The concept was to allow for flexibility based on the student's needs at the moment. The table slides along the bench and allows for curling up in a corner if so desired. A series of these niches at the second floor help to reduce the monotony one typically finds in long corridors.

While the wood strip at the ceiling has not yet been installed, you can see that a simple yet thoughtful corridor with a destination at the end can liven up a long corridor.
